What 3 Sleep Positions Are BEST for Lower Back Pain?!

Do you suffer from low back pain? Don’t worry you are not alone. Lower back pain has been labeled the leading cause for disability across the globe. What’s interesting is that most low back pain isn’t necessarily brought on by a serious medical condition, but rather strain from bad posture, stress, sleeping positions or other bad lifestyle habits.

Below are some excellent low back pain sleeping positions to try!

Sleeping on side (Fetal position)

If you have a herniated disc this is the sleep position for you.

Lay on side and tuck knees toward chest and curl torso into knees. Remember to switch sides occasionally to help with imbalances.

Sleeping on side, pillow between knees

If laying on your back flat is uncomfortable try the side life!

Have your right or left shoulder touch the mattress along with the rest of the side of your body. Place a pillow between your knees. If you experience a gap between your waist and the mattress, try adding a small pillow for support.

Sleeping flat on back, pillow under knees

Sleeping on your back may be the only form of relief for your back pain.

Lay flat on your back. Place a pillow under your knees and remember to keep your spine neutral. The pillow is important in that it works to curve your lower back.
